Contact the Repair Desk

Send the vessel particulars and what you need done. You will get back a written scope and a
quotation in USD, or an honest statement that the work is better done somewhere else.

WhatsApp is the practical channel for anything urgent. Vessels operating in Raja Ampat frequently have intermittent
connectivity, and a message with photographs will get further than a call attempt that does not connect.
If it is an emergency
Send, in one message: vessel name and type, position, the fault as you understand it, number of guests aboard, whether there
is water ingress, whether propulsion is available, and the weather at the site. Photographs or a short video are worth an hour
of description. Response planning and coverage across the archipelago are set out on the
emergency and on-site repair page.
What to send for a quotation
The more of this you can provide, the faster and firmer the answer:
- Vessel particulars — name, type, year, builder, LOA, LWL, beam, maximum draft, displacement, hull
material. - Machinery — main engine and gearbox make, model and serial number, generator details, running hours.
- Status — flag, class or statutory status, date and location of last docking, date of next survey.
- Position and availability — where the vessel is now and the window you have between charters.
- The work — your own list, however rough. Photographs of the defect areas, previous survey reports and
coating records if you have them.
If you are not sure whether your vessel fits the lifting facilities available, send LOA, beam, draft and displacement and we
will confirm before you plan a transit — the dimensional questions are explained on the
haul-out and dry docking page.
What happens next
- Acknowledgement and questions. Usually within one working day. We would rather ask three questions than
quote a scope we have guessed at. - Written scope. A numbered work list, with anything speculative separated into a clearly labelled
provisional section. - Quotation in USD. Naming the yard or slipway, the proposed docking window, assumptions, exclusions and the
contingency line. - Booking. Slot confirmed against your calendar, with parts ordering starting immediately rather than on
arrival.
Where the work happens
Yard and docking work: Sorong area, Papua Barat Daya — the lifting and workshop hub for the Raja Ampat
fleet.
Afloat and on-site work: anchorages across Raja Ampat including Waisai, the Dampier Strait, Gam, Kri,
Mansuar, Kabui Bay, northern Waigeo and Misool.
Contracts and currency
Construction, repair, refit and vessel-sale contracts are issued by PT Komodo Galangan Nusantara.
Boat-management contracts are issued by PT Komodo Vessel Management, and brokerage, central agency and charter marketing
contracts by PT Komodo Bahari Nusantara. All quotations and contract values are stated in USD. Raja Ampat Shipyard is a
specialist maritime brand under Juara Holding Group.
Working languages and time
The desk works in English and Bahasa Indonesia. Technical scopes, quotations and job files are issued in English by default,
with Indonesian versions of scope documents available where the yard, crew or surveyor requires them — which for statutory and
syahbandar paperwork is normally the case. Local time is WIT (UTC+9), which is the same clock the Sorong yards keep and one hour
ahead of Bali. If you are writing from Europe, a message sent in your morning will typically be answered the following morning
Sorong time.
Common enquiry types
- “Can you take my vessel in March?” — send dimensions and the scope outline; availability depends on cradle
size as much as on the calendar. - “We have a survey due and no plan.” — this is the most useful enquiry to send early. Survey dockings need
around three months because the surveyor’s diary binds before the slipway does. Handled through the
survey coordination desk. - “We are buying a vessel that works Raja Ampat.” — pre-purchase inspection, including a short haul-out for
underwater assessment, is arranged in the Sorong area. - “Something is wrong and we have guests aboard.” — treat it as an emergency and send the triage details
above. - “We want a maintenance plan, not a repair.” — that is
managed maintenance and owner representation, and it is the
enquiry we would most like to receive first rather than after a breakdown.
A first message you can copy
If composing from a rolling wheelhouse, adapt this: “MV [name], [type], [LOA] m, currently [position / anchorage]. Problem: [symptom in one sentence]. Vessel [can / cannot] move under own power. [Number] guests aboard. Deadline: [date / next charter]. Photos follow.” Those seven fields are the difference between a reply that asks questions and a reply that proposes a plan. What happens after you send it — desk review, written scope, USD quotation, scheduling — is laid out step by step in how our coordination works.
For parts enquiries, add the data-plate photograph and serial number; the spares logistics page explains why identification is where most delay is born. For anything with water ingress, stop composing and follow the emergency instructions above.
Before you write
If you are still at the planning stage, the Raja Ampat and Sorong shipyard
guide covers geography, seasons, documentation and realistic regional capability, and the FAQ answers
the short specific questions. Budget structure — including how to compare two quotations honestly — is on the
costs and budgeting page.
Frequently asked questions
How quickly do you respond to enquiries?
Usually within one working day for a quotation enquiry. Emergencies are triaged immediately — send position, fault, guests aboard and whether there is water ingress, and you will get a response rather than a form acknowledgement.
What is the fastest way to reach you from a vessel at anchor?
WhatsApp on +628113823875. Connectivity across the archipelago is intermittent and a message with photographs gets through where a call attempt does not.
Do you quote in rupiah or USD?
USD. Every scope, variation and final account is stated in USD so that owners and managers are comparing the same numbers across yards and across years.
Can you tell me whether my vessel fits before I sail to Sorong?
Yes, and you should ask. Send length overall, beam, maximum draft and displacement, plus hull and keel configuration, and we will confirm against current facility limits before you commit to a transit.
Before you write, you can read about the desk, the contracting entity and the group behind it.
